Lab Director: Janet Frick, PhD.

Dr. Frick has been a member of the faculty at UGA since 1997. She grew up in Missouri and received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Kansas. She has been intrigued with babies and how they learn for as long as she can remember, and feels very lucky that she gets to study them (and teach students about them) for a living! She and her husband Steve have two children, Colin (age 15) and Melanie (age 12) as well as a collection of cats. In her spare time, Dr. Frick enjoys photography, hiking, playing piano, and singing in her church choir.

Postdoctoral Researcher: Sarah Saint, Ph.D.

Undergraduate Assistants:

Abby Thomas

Christine Kaba

Christine is a fourth year Biology and Psychology double major with a Spanish minor. She is currently applying to medical school and plans on doing a pediatric specialty in whichever field I choose. Christine is currently working on a nutrition project that combines the Department of Psychology's Infant Lab and the College of Public Health to look for oxidative stress and inflammation markers in the blood samples of patients supplemented with carotenoids like lutein and zeaxanthin. In addition, she looks for macular pigment measurements in the retina and CFF values as a measure of cognitive function. This is considered a lifetime study with similar variables measured in infants and then later in life in 18-32 year olds.

Emily Austin

Emily Austin is a 2nd year student from Douglasville, Georgia majoring in Psychology with minors in Global Health and Biology. She aspires to one day pursue Physician's Assistant school and eventually become a PA in the field of pediatric oncology/hematology. In the Infant Lab, Emily is mainly responsible for social media management, website design, and marketing strategies, but also regularly assists with the day-to-day operations of the lab as well as video coding and appointment scheduling.
